Can you really see Adelaide in one day?

If you're thinking of visiting Adelaide, you'll find a range of things to see and do in the city. These places include the State Library of South Australia, Adelaide Zoo, and the Botanic Gardens restaurant. Adelaide is also home to the Fringe Festival, which offers a variety of shows and other events.

The State Library of South Australia

The State Library of South Australia is located in the North Terrace Cultural Precinct. It is South Australia's largest public research library and hosts an extensive collection of materials. Visitors can explore its art galleries, rare books, manuscripts, and more. Visitors can also view its extensive sporting and emigration collections.

Art Gallery of South Australia

Admission is free. There are special exhibitions and free guided tours. The library is also home to the Bradman Collection, which contains memorabilia related to the state's cricket team. If you're visiting the area during the Christmas holidays, be sure to check out their free Christmas Storytelling program and school choir performances.

The Botanic Gardens Restaurant

If you're looking for a place to dine in Adelaide, you shouldn't miss the Botanic Gardens Restaurant. It has recently undergone a beautiful renovation and now features an open kitchen for a unique dining experience. The new chef, Justin James, is well known among food lovers for his stints at some of Australia's most celebrated restaurants. He also has experience in international cuisine.

You can visit Adelaide's Botanic Gardens for free, which are home to a diverse collection of cool climate plants, as well as a heritage rose garden. You can also visit the Himeji Garden in the city centre, a Japanese garden filled with lily-topped ponds, stepping stones, and the sound of trickling water. You can also check out the Art Gallery of South Australia, which houses one of the nation's most impressive collections of art.

Haigh's Chocolates

If you have a sweet tooth and want to learn more about chocolate making, you should visit Haigh's Chocolates in Adelaide City. This family-owned business has been making chocolate in Adelaide since 1915. You can tour the factory, try chocolate samples, and learn about the history of chocolate-making.

The factory tour lasts about 20 minutes and includes complimentary tea or coffee and a chance to buy chocolate. Some of the most popular treats from Haigh's include fudges, fruit centres, and truffles. The factory is open from 11am to 1pm Monday to Saturday and during school holidays, extra tours are offered. Tours are free, although booking is required.

City tours in Adelaide

Located along the River Torrens, Adelaide is the cosmopolitan coastal capital of South Australia. It has plenty to offer visitors, including museums, art galleries, and parks. Explore the South Australian Museum and the Art Gallery of South Australia. And don't miss the annual Adelaide Festival, an international arts gathering that features film and fringe events.

The city offers several city tours. The Adelaide Night Tour leaves from the Stamford Plaza Hotel in the CBD and goes on a timetabled circuit of the city, stopping at several venues. The tour takes about 50 minutes, and participants assemble in groups during the late afternoon. Afterwards, the tour bus makes its way back to the city by 5 pm.

Adelaide

Taking a city tour is a great way to explore the city. The city is home to a vibrant subculture. For example, a walking tour featuring Jimmy C, the city's most famous street artist, will highlight the city's famous drippy style. If you're interested in the history and future of Australian street art, this tour is a must-do. Other tours will explore different aspects of the city.

There are also afternoon and morning walking tours available. These tours will show you around the city and help you find the most popular attractions. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes so you don't get too tired walking around. Booking ahead of time is the best way to make sure you're able to take the tours you want. And don't forget to take water!
