One day itinerary in Buffalo

The best time to visit Buffalo is during the summer when the weather is warm and there are plenty of events and activities that can keep you occupied for hours. However, fall and spring are also good seasons to visit, because of their mild temperatures and unique activities. Regardless of what time of year you visit Buffalo, make sure to find parking, as there are plenty of free and paid lots throughout downtown and a fair amount of street parking.

Forest Lawn Cemetery

If you are planning a trip to Buffalo, you'll want to spend some time at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. The historic cemetery is located near Frank Lloyd Wright's Martin House Complex. You can take a tour of the cemetery and learn about the lives of its residents. Tours are offered every Sunday from June through October, and you can sign up for a walking or trolley tour. The cemetery is free to visit. It is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the spring and fall and 8 a.m. to 4 o'clock during the winter.

The Blue Sky Mausoleum is one of the highlights of a visit to the cemetery. The architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed it in 1928, and the Forest Lawn Group constructed it in 2004. You can also check out the Red Jacket statue, which was sculpted by James G. C. Hamilton in 1890. Another highlight of the cemetery is the Birge Memorial, designed by George Cary in honor of Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company president George K. Birge. The cemetery is also home to the graves of William Dorsheimer, a United States Congressman, and William McMillan, Buffalo's first superintendent of parks.

Shea's Buffalo Theatre

Shea's Buffalo Theatre is one of the oldest and most beloved theaters in the world. Originally built in 1920, this beautiful theatre has undergone numerous upgrades and expansions. It features a 5000-square-foot stage - one of the largest in North America. Its facades have also been restored. It is now home to touring Broadway shows. While visiting Buffalo, be sure to check out its production schedule to find the show that best suits your schedule.

Shea's Buffalo Theatre

Located in downtown Buffalo's Theatre District, Shea's Performing Arts Center is home to a diverse lineup of productions. The building originally served as a movie theater, but now boasts three separate theaters: the Shea Buffalo Theatre, the Alleyway Theatre, and the Town Ballroom. You'll find the finest Broadway shows here as well as many touring shows.

Museum of Science

The Buffalo Museum of Science is a science museum located in Buffalo, New York. It is near the Kensington Expressway and Martin Luther King Jr. Park. It opened on January 19, 1929 and was designed by architects James A. Johnson and August Esenwein. The museum has an interactive, hands-on exhibit hall and is open seven days a week.

The first floor has exhibits on natural history and fossils, while the second floor has a more classic science museum look. The museum houses fossil skeletons from prehistoric animals, including a giant mastodon. It also features a space for children to pretend they are digging for fossils.

Tifft Nature Preserve

When you're looking for some outdoor activities in Buffalo, New York, consider a visit to the Tifft Nature Preserve. This 264-acre municipal nature preserve is one of the largest in the state. If you're interested in birds, butterflies, or other natural beauty, you'll find plenty to enjoy here.

Tifft Nature Preserve is an oasis in the middle of the city. The area was once a major shipping port for the Great Lakes. However, before it became a wildlife sanctuary, it was originally a dairy farm. The first owner, George Washington Tifft, cleared the forest to make more space for his dairy farm. This was a common practice in the early 1900s due to the growing global population and high demand for agricultural land.
