Can you really see Kalamata in one day?

Kalamata is a great place to visit, whether you are looking for a day trip or something to do in the evening. If you are here to enjoy the sunset, you might want to check out Kalamata's famous castle. This was built in the 13th century, and although it was completely destroyed by the Venetians, it was rebuilt. Fortunately, the castle was not damaged during the earthquake in 1986.

Unique guided tours in Kalamata

One of the best ways to see the city is by taking a guided tour. These tours take you through the historic center of Kalamata, where you can see the medieval castle and the Monastery of St. Constantine and Helen. Other highlights of this tour include a stop at a charming cafe and the train museum.

One of the best things to do in Kalamata is to attend a dance festival in the summer. This annual event is very popular and attracts people from all over Greece. Make sure to book ahead to attend if you are interested in seeing some amazing dance performances. The festival takes place along Navarino Avenue. The city's beachfront is also a popular place to hang out, with umbrellas, showers, and bars.

Orthodox Monastery of saints Konstantinos and Eleni

In Kalamata, you can also see the medieval town's ruins. The town's Kastro, or castle, dates from the early 13th century. While it is not as ornate as other fortifications in Peloponnese, it still offers excellent city views. In addition, excavations have revealed the ruins of the ancient city of Fares, which was populated in the 6th century. This is where the church of Virgin Mary Kalomata is located.

One of the best places to eat in Kalamata is the central public market. It has over 400 vendors selling a variety of food and drinks. You can sample local cheeses and honey, as well as olives and nuts. The market is open twice a week, and Saturday is the best day to visit.
